In an exclusive interview, Sean Goodnight shares what sets him apart from other sales professionals and what he’s learned along the road to success. He discusses what motivates him to keep going in hard times and shares a few key pieces of advice for those who desire to step out on their own as entrepreneurs or differentiate themselves from the competition in their area of expertise.

During the interview, Goodnight shares how important it is to focus on his clients and their needs. He explains that to be successful, key traits include being down-to-earth and relatable with clients. You can’t achieve your own goals until you make it a priority to help them achieve theirs by genuinely listening to what they have to say.

He expands upon his professional journey by discussing the importance of communication. Goodnight shares the common theme: striving for a true connection with people that enables rapport to come naturally. That rapport provides for natural opportunities to promote whatever products or services you may have to offer.

Goodnight also states that some of the best learning opportunities stem from reading books. He firmly believes that there is a lot to be learned through literature.

Over the years, Goodnight has learned how to evaluate the choices he encounters when it comes to allocating his time on a daily basis. He states, “Life is all about the choices you make, and I have to ask myself which choices will advance me in my career and my personal life.”

As for advice to students and entrepreneurs embarking on their next mission, he notes the importance of communication, marketing, selling, and financial literacy. He also shares the significance of not allowing anyone to crush your dream.

He shares that there are a few people that he considers role models, including Dale Carnegie and Abraham Lincoln. His admiration goes to those who aren’t afraid to get dirty and work to make their goals a reality. He respects those around him who work hard to accomplish their vision.

When asked what keeps him going in tough times, Goodnight shared, “I know what it’s like to be broke, and I think that perseverance is critical to pull yourself out of a difficult situation. Never accept an undesirable situation and know that you can do better if you want to. It’s just a matter of getting in a positive mindset and knowing that it’s going to pay off at some point.”

Outside of his professional achievements, Sean Goodnight shares the importance of his thirteen-year-old daughter and enjoying her softball games whenever he can. He also discusses spending free time running with his dog and playing sports such as hockey and snowboarding.

He concludes by stating that good things will happen if you continually decide to “live right.”
